  2. inform people about the dramatic impact excessive printing has over the environment: Here I remind you just 3 of them (of course, there are many other ? here you can read more about them)
  3. a. It takes one 15-year old tree to produce HALF a box of office paper
    b. Nearly 80% of the world?s original old growth forests have been logged or severely degraded
    c. A single mature tree can release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support 2 human beings.

  4. educate people to stop wasting paper and other resources

Printing facts and print managers’ effects

Studies estimate that the average commercial employee prints around 10,000 pages per year. Of that print volume, 17% or more is pure waste. That is 1,700 sheets of paper per year that are needlessly printed, resulting in dramatic financial and environmental impact.

Speaking of environmental impact; did you know that:
- It takes 3 tons of wood to produce 1 ton of copy paper
- It takes one 15-year old tree to produce HALF a box of office paper?
- Nearly 80% of the world’s original old growth forests have been logged or severely degraded
- 4281 acres of rainforest are lost every hour worldwide
- 40% of the world’s industrial logging goes into making paper (expected to reach 50% in the near future)
- Worldwide, the pulp and paper industry is the 5th largest industrial consumer of energy.
- Production of 1 ton of copy paper uses 11,134 kWh (same amount of energy used by an average household in 10 months)
- A single mature tree can release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support 2 human beings. Continue reading ‘Printing facts and print managers’ effects’

There are so many fields and activities that require significant parts of the budget that schools often face difficult situations when it comes for allocating resources.
