Lunch break is personal time, so, stop what you’re doing and listen!
Statistics show that 45% of the American workers are taking shorter and/or fewer lunch breaks than they did a year ago. Many employees are also skipping lunch to reduce expenses while more than a third pass on the mid-day lunch break because of increasing workload.
We are all too busy these days and taking a leisurely lunch is seen like a waste of precious time. Also, we are working hard, sacrificing the lunch break and eating junk food at our desk because the idea that we could get out of work at a reasonable hour enjoys us. This extra time could allow us to spend some quality time with our families and friends and more than that could help us avoid the rush hour.
Whatever the reason for doing it, this has to stop. First of all because separating work from lunch is an important part of work-life balance. Second, because skipping this meal has a negative impact over health and productivity. Specialists say that “skipping meals leads to poor cognitive functioning, including loss of memory, concentration, the ability to learn, hand-eye coordination and catching mistakes”. So, do you want to complete your task more efficiently? Take your lunch break! You deserve it
It is also proven that taking time for yourself increases productivity. It is exactly the same thing with the lunch break. Beside the fact that reclaiming your lunch hour will help you focus on what you eat and make healthy and enjoyable food choice, it will also allow you to do some physical activity and stay away from your tasks. Actually, specialists say that 30 minutes of physical activity (walking is one of them of course) is the daily minimum for maintaining health and reducing the risk of chronic disease. This will definitely help you complete your tasks more effectively as you will come back to your desk with a fresh mind.
So, stop wondering what happened to the lunch hour (just because you missed it again too) and remember that your brain needs to rest and lunch is the perfect moment to take a break. Be healthy, be creative and be productive with a simple lunch break!

Okay, if you want to save more while having your lunch break, then why not bring a packed lunch together with you before you go in your office? It was proven a long time ago that bringing a packed lunch in the office can help you spend less. You just need to be more practical and smart in making decision about this matter. I have found other people who have also experience this situation. It would be very great if you take your break and eat your lunch, its very true that having your lunch break will make you more focus in what you’re doing. Now leaving your self with an empty stomach while working the whole day will make you really exhausted. It’s true! In lieu to this, choosing a food container for your packed lunch is also one important factor. Don’t use any plastic bag container for it contains harmful toxic effect that may bring impairment to our health. Just use stainless steel container, its was made to be an alternative for plastic ware type to lessen any bad effects. The one I found in Happy Tiffin (http://www.happytiffin.com) are very extraordinary and portable. So, why not give it a try. There are many people who have proven its good features and already obtained many benefits.
Thanks for the tip Ara. This is indeed a good solution to save money too
