A few months ago a study released by Ohio State University showed that college students who use Facebook spend less time studying and have lower grades than students who don’t use the popular social networking site. Now is time for another study, conducted by Nucleus Research, to show that Facebook also affects employees’ productivity at work.
In order to explore the business productivity impact of Facebook, 237 randomly selected workers have been interviewed about their use of Facebook. The results showed that 77% of employees have a Facebook account and 61% of these use this service during work-time. The average time spend on Facebook is 15 minutes some of employees spending up to 2 hours on the social networking site.

For most of us summer means mountains, sea and sunshine, in one word …vacation. Most companies reduce their activity due to the fact that their employees are taking these well deserved breaks. But as all good things come to an end so it happens with our vacation. And after two weeks (more or less) of sleep and rest when we turn to our offices we feel like being in another world.
Hundreds of e-mails flooding the inbox and important things that remained unsolved for over a week are now your priority. But how can we handle with all these when your colleagues are asking you to share your experience from the vacation and to share photos? So here are some steps you have to follow in order to refocus on your work and to increase your productivity at maximum.
- Analyze the week. Take a quick view of all the events and activities that took place while you were on vacation and which one must happen in a very short time and cannot be delayed. Try to integrate one important activity per day.
- Organize the day. You must have a plan for each day and well organized work sessions. Take small breaks after every task finished. In the morning, it’s better to deal with the e-mails and only after that to get on other projects. Wasting time at work seems to continue to be a huge problem for companies all over the word. A study conducted over the American workers revealed that Americans still waste approximately 2 hours from their work time each day. The first question that came into my mind was why are they doing this, especially at these times. Now, when the companies’ focus must be on increasing productivity, why do the employees still waste precious time?
