Having to deal with workplace negativity is one of the fastest and easiest ways to lower productivity around the office. It quickly creates a hostile environment that makes everyone edgy and uncomfortable, and tends to affect everyone from employees to employers. Negativity is one of those things that, once it takes hold, tends to spread like wildfire and can come in more than one form.

Negativity in employees is something that is almost unavoidable because everyone has bad days and everyone can find something to complain about. The problem with having negative employees is that when they gossip with other employees it can be infectious. When one person laments their unhappiness to a coworker it can make the coworker realize that they, too, are unhappy with a situation, and then each person’s negativity builds and grows off the other. I have a positive and a joyful feeling each year, right after snow melts and spring knocks on my door. Is a relief, thinking that sun will set a little later each day, thinking that I can give up on my winter jacket and I can admire again the fresh grass getting out. I always get more energy and I think this is the best time of the year to take initiative and make good plans.
